7th Grade World History
Room 204
2017-2018 School Year
Introduction:
Welcome to World History! My name is Jordan Cabahug, and this will be my fourth year teaching 7th Grade U.S. History at SCCA. With your cooperation, I look forward to making this class as awesome as possible! The other sections of this syllabus are of all the information you need to be successful in history class this year (or to help your child be successful). Please read carefully because YOU are the one responsible for knowing what is expected of you.
Subject:
We will be exploring many different themes in Medieval World History that coincide with our IB curriculum. IB curriculum is based largely on fostering IB traits such as: Inquiring; Caring, and Risk-taking. We will be exploring and developing these traits in our method of study through the following six units:
First Semester
Classroom Rules:
I will be running my classroom based on principles from Capturing Kids Hearts. This program teaches students how EXCEL as leaders, scholars, and as awesome people. Each class will be creating their own social contract, and after this social contract has been created, we will be referring to it in order to deal with any issues that may arise in the classroom.
Consequences for not following the Social Contract will be a follows:
1. Verbal Warning (Four Questions)
2. Individual Conference at Break or at Lunch (It is the student's responsibility to make this appointment)
3. Phone Call to Parent
4. Office Referral
Classroom Procedures:
Late Work: Students will not be able to earn any more than a "minus" grade on their late work (If they normally would have received a 95 on the assignment, they will receive a 90 for it being late. If they normally would have recieved an 87 on the assignment, they will recieve an 80 for it being late, etc.)
*If a student is absent they have the same number of days they were absent to complete make-up class and homework for full credit. This work may be turned in to the current file with the word “Absent” written on top.
Cheating: I have a zero tolerance for cheating (Like most college universities). In the event I find that some students have cheated, they will all be given an immediate “0” for the corresponding assignment and I will write an office referral (according to the school handbook).
Grades:
Students grades will be determined by the following percentages:
80%- Assessment
-Scheduled Exams
-Projects
-Presentations
20%- Classwork and Homework
-Classwork
-Quizzes
-Homework
